Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

It was a game that people have been asking for, and many thought might not ever happen. Well it has finally arrived! Today, Vigilante 8: Arcade launches on the Xbox Live Marketplace for a mere 800 MS Points. If you’re stuck somewhere away from your 360 right now, check out the V8:Arcade website for some great pictures, videos, and tons of other stuff.

Don’t forget: GLaDOS is Still Alive… October 22nd!

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Xbox.com released an interesting piece for the press today. I won’t waste too much time, but the point is: Portal: Still Alive launches in six days! I’ll see if I can dig up any other information, like when it’s coming to PSN. Here is the content from the press release:

You are invited to return to the Aperture Science Enrichment Center this Wednesday, October 22 at 9 a.m. GMT (2:00 a.m. PDT) via Xbox LIVE Arcade. Due to the unforeseen conclusion of your last visit, all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure that “Portal: Still Alive” is a sanitary, objective, and mostly non-lethal testing environment.

In addition to the original award winning first-person puzzle experience, Aperture Science is proud to provide 14 new challenge maps exclusive to Xbox LIVE Arcade. Six advanced maps will also be provided to help guide you along the way.

Though prior test subjects proved to be unstable and may have presented false information, Aperture Science is pleased to inform you that your cake is indeed waiting for you and that the Weighted Companion Cube misses you in your absence.

Please review the following incentivizing memorandum:

Your prompt compliance is appreciated and will once again help us help you help us all.

Today in XBLA: MLB Stickball

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

MLB Stickball looks like a fun take on a classic. The launch date for this title has been set for a little while now, but I’m still excited to give this demo a shot. I’ve never been a huge fan of baseball games, but with just the right twist, they can become a lot of fun. As the environments change, so do the rules, just like growing up and playing ball in the streets… so this full on experience looks like it will be a lot of fun for a reasonable 800 MSPoints.

Mega Man 9 hits XBLA

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

I nearly forgot that today was the great day when my childhood returns in the form of Mega Man 9!

Some backstory: I was always late to gaming, got my 360 around it’s 1 year anniversary, and never even had an NES until after the Super Nintendo had come out… my first NES game other than Mario/Duckhunt was Mega Man 3 – to this day I still have that original game cart. To this day I maintain that it is the best Mega Man in the series.

Like many, when Mega Man “X” came out, my friends and I called it Mega Man 10, it was logical, but there weren’t 9 Mega Man games before it. Something needed to fill the gap! Even without playing it, yet, I believe that this game will fill the gap in the Mega Man saga, and look forward to the challenges it will bring. I intend to try the demo tonight, and will probably end up buying the game (possibly along with the Protoman “add on” {rip off!}, I need the slide mechanic!). Going through way too many MSPoints lately, and will keep going, at least until SSFIIHDR comes out!
